Kapil Sibal has been elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). The counting of votes is still underway, but Sibal has already pulled ahead of the other candidates.
Sibal secured 1,066 votes, while his closest rival, Pradeep Kumar Rai, received 689 votes. The other candidates, Adish Aggarwala, Priya Hingorani, Neeraj Srivastava, and Tripurari Ray, are still trailing behind.
Sibal's victory is a significant achievement, as he is a well-respected lawyer who has served as a Minister of Law and Justice in the Government of India. He is also a former President of the Delhi High Court Bar Association.
In his acceptance speech, Sibal said that he was humbled by the trust that the members of the SCBA had placed in him. He promised to work hard to uphold the values of the association and to represent the interests of the legal profession.
Sibal's election is a sign of the growing stature of the SCBA. The association is now one of the most influential legal bodies in India, and it plays an important role in shaping the development of the law.
We congratulate Sibal on his election as President of the SCBA. We wish him all the best in his new role.
