Jayant Sinha Responds to BJP's Notice on Election Absence
  • Jayant Sinha surprised by BJP's notice for not voting, campaigning.
  • Sinha voted through postal ballot, citing overseas commitments.
  • Sinha claims he was not invited to party events or rallies.

Former Union Minister and MP Jayant Sinha expressed surprise at receiving the BJP's show cause notice questioning his absence from voting and election campaigning in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

In a two-page response to BJP's Jharkhand general secretary Aditya Sahu's letter, Sinha clarified that he voted through the postal ballot process as he was overseas for personal commitments.

Regarding the allegations of not participating in organizational work and election campaigning, Sinha stated that he was not invited to any party events, rallies, or organizational meetings.

Sinha emphasized that he had publicly withdrawn from the Lok Sabha elections in March 2024 after consulting with BJP national president JP Nadda and that he had requested to be relieved from direct electoral duties.

He also mentioned that he had received a late invitation to Jaiswal's nomination rally and had visited Jaiswal's residence to express his regards when Jaiswal was not present.

Sinha highlighted his long association with the BJP, his development work in Hazaribagh, and his record victories in the previous general elections.

He expressed concern that the public issuance of the notice demoralizes dedicated party workers and undermines collective efforts.

Sinha questioned the timing of the letter after the elections and suggested that any concerns could have been addressed through direct communication.

He concluded by reiterating his loyalty and hard work for the party and his belief that he was being unfairly targeted.

The exchange between Sinha and the BJP highlights the internal dynamics within the party and the challenges faced by members who choose to differ from the leadership's decisions.
