External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has accused the Western media of having an 'International Khan Market Gang' that seeks to influence Indian politics and the choices of Indian voters.
Jaishankar made the remarks during an interview with news agency ANI. He said that just like there is a 'Khan Market Gang' in India, there is also a global extension of it.
The 'Khan Market Gang' is a term used to describe a group of elitist, left-liberal thinkers who are often critical of the Indian government. Jaishankar said that the 'International Khan Market Gang' is linked to the 'entitled people' in India and that they 'feel like they advance similar viewpoints.'
He added that the 'International Khan Market Gang' provides support to the 'domestic Khan Market Gang' when their sales are down. He said that this support can be seen in the way that the 'International Khan Market Gang' plays up certain stories and slants things.
Jaishankar also alleged that a very clear attempt is being made to influence the direction of Indian politics and the choices of Indian voters. He said that this attempt peaks at election time, but it continues even after that.
He said that the 'rankings' that India gets from international organizations are an attempt to demoralize and delegitimize the country and to shape the narrative that India is going to give a result that they don't like.
Jaishankar's remarks come at a time when there is growing concern about foreign interference in Indian elections. In recent years, there have been several reports of foreign governments and organizations trying to influence the outcome of Indian elections.
The Indian government has taken steps to address this concern. In 2019, the government passed a law that requires foreign entities to register with the Election Commission of India before they can spend money on election-related activities.
The government has also set up a task force to monitor foreign interference in Indian elections. The task force is responsible for investigating reports of foreign interference and taking appropriate action.
Jaishankar's remarks are a reminder that foreign interference in Indian elections is a serious threat. The government is taking steps to address this threat, but it is important for all Indians to be aware of the issue and to be vigilant against any attempts to influence the outcome of elections.
