  • China-made drone recovered near Amritsar by BSF

In a concerning development along the volatile Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army troops opened fire on a suspected Pakistani drone late Saturday night near the Rajouri district. The incident serves as a reminder of the heightened tensions and persistent cross-border issues in the region.

According to officials, the suspected drone briefly violated Indian airspace before swiftly returning to the Pakistan side. Despite an extensive search operation conducted by the Army in the Keri sector, no suspicious items or materials were discovered on the ground, allaying immediate concerns.

The incident highlights the growing menace of unauthorized drones being used for nefarious activities, such as smuggling weapons and narcotics across the border. Officials have expressed apprehension that anti-national elements may be exploiting these drones to further their illicit agendas.

In a separate incident, a flying object with a blinking light was spotted in the sky near the Allahpir area of Poonch district. Security forces, including the police, promptly conducted a thorough search of the area but found nothing on the ground, effectively ruling out any immediate threat or suspicious activity.

Meanwhile, in Punjab's Amritsar district, the Border Security Forces (BSF) made a significant recovery of a China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone in a harvested field of village Havelian. Acting on specific intelligence, BSF troops swiftly launched an extensive search operation, leading to the successful recovery of the drone.

This recovery marks the second such incident within a short span of two days, following the seizure of another drone carrying a packet of suspected heroin in the same area. The BSF remains vigilant in its efforts to prevent the illegal entry of drones and thwart any attempts to smuggle contraband across the border.

The repeated incidents of drones being used for illicit activities underscore the need for heightened surveillance and effective countermeasures to safeguard national security. The Indian Army and other security forces are working diligently to neutralize such threats and maintain peace and stability in the border regions.
