Fatal Turbulence on Singapore Airlines Flight Kills One, Injures 30
  • Passenger killed, 30 injured in Singapore Airlines turbulence.
  • Flight diverted to Bangkok after severe turbulence encounter.
  • Injuries occur when passengers not wearing seatbelts or pilot lacks warning.

In a tragic incident, a passenger has lost their life while 30 others sustained injuries due to severe turbulence encountered on a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore.

The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300 ER, was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members when it experienced the unexpected turbulence en route. The flight was diverted to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport for immediate medical attention.

According to experts, such injuries often occur when passengers are not wearing their seatbelts or when the pilot is unable to provide advance warning due to a lack of turbulence indication on weather radar. Passengers can be thrown around the cabin during such incidents, leading to injuries.

Singapore Airlines has expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased passenger and is working closely with local authorities in Thailand to provide necessary medical assistance to the injured. The airline has also dispatched a team to Bangkok to offer additional support.

In a similar incident last year, several passengers were injured due to turbulence on a Delhi-Sydney Air India flight.

The incident highlights the importance of adhering to safety guidelines, including wearing seatbelts during flights, to minimize the risk of injuries in the event of unexpected turbulence.
