  • BJP alleges illegal arrest of MLA candidate Jagdev in EVM damage case.

The Election Commission (EC) has ordered the immediate suspension of senior IPS officer DS Kuttey, who was working in the Odisha Chief Minister's Office (CMO), for allegedly interfering in the conduct of elections.

The EC has also directed another IPS officer, Ashish Singh, to present himself for a detailed medical examination by a special medical board constituted by the Director of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, over similar allegations.

The EC has ordered an expeditious investigation into the case registered against Prashant Jagdev, a BJP MLA candidate from Khordha assembly constituency, who was arrested on Monday over allegations of damaging an EVM in a polling booth.

The BJP has alleged that Jagdev was illegally arrested as the CCTV footage of the polling booth showed him not having any role in the EVM machine manhandling.
