MS Dhoni and his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammates were honored with medals at the Chepauk Stadium after their final home game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

The defending champions defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets, moving up to third place on the points table with 14 points.

Following the victory, the CSK players were felicitated with gold medals and performed a lap of honor to thank the fans for their unwavering support.

This was CSK's 50th home win at Chepauk and their final league game of the season.

Prior to the game, the franchise had requested fans to stay back after the game for 'something special', and the team delivered with a satisfying win and gave away tennis balls during their lap of honor.

Former CSK all-rounder Suresh Raina joined his old teammates on the field, hugging Dhoni and hitting a ball into the crowd at the legendary wicketkeeper-batter's request.

While CSK still needs to win their final away game to secure a play-off berth, Gaikwad expressed his delight at capping off the league engagements at home with a comfortable win.

In the match, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was the star for CSK with the bat, remaining unbeaten on a 41-ball 42.

CSK stayed in contention for a place in the IPL play-offs with the victory, which came in a low-scoring match with its share of drama, including Ravindra Jadeja being given out for obstructing the field.

Gaikwad praised the wicket, saying it brought their spinners into play and made it risky for batters to hit sixes due to the large boundaries.
