Ravindra Jadeja spun his web in the middle overs to pick 3-fer and broke the spine of the Punjab Kings middle order helping Chennai beat them by 28 runs in the end.
Jadeja came into the attack in the 10th over and immediately made an impact. He dismissed Shikhar Dhawan with his first ball, and then went on to dismiss Mayank Agarwal and Liam Livingstone in quick succession.
Jadeja's wickets put Punjab Kings on the back foot, and they were never able to recover. They eventually fell short by 28 runs.
Earlier, Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel chipped in with three wickets to help Punjab Kings restrict Chennai Super Kings to 167/9 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday.
Chahar and Patel were the pick of the bowlers for Punjab Kings, taking three wickets each. Chahar dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, and MS Dhoni, while Patel dismissed Devon Conway, Shivam Dube, and Dwaine Pretorius.
CSK are placed third on the table with 12 points and the five-time champion. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, may have a mathemetical chance but is looking extremly grim for them now.
