Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over an old video wherein he could be seen promising reservation to Muslims.
Sharing over a decade-old video of the Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli, PM Modi called it the “real face” of the grand old party.
This is Congress’ real face, which the grand old party managed to hide from the country for a long time,” the prime minister said.
In this old video, Rahul Gandhi could be heard saying, “We will give reservation to Muslim brothers. We will include them.”
PM Modi shared the video on microblogging X and wrote, “Their words and their promise is for everyone to hear. They want to deny rights to SC, ST and OBC communities, preferring UNCONSTITUTIONAL Muslim reservation instead. Modi will not let them trample over Pujya Babasaheb’s Constitution,” PM Modi wrote in his X post.
Earlier this month, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav came out in support of reservation for Muslims and said it “should be done now”.
PM Modi had reacted to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s remark accusing the INDIA bloc of not being able to see beyond “appeasement” ever.
They can’t see above appeasement now. If they come to themselves they will also take your breathing rights away,” the prime minister had said.
PM Modi, while addressing a public rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar, took a dig at Lalu Prasad Yadav saying a “fodder scam accused” leader who is out on bail is advocating reservation for Muslims.
