Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate from Basirhat, Rekha Patra, launched a scathing attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, accusing them of rampant hooliganism during elections.
Patra, a prominent figure in the protests against Shahjahan Sheikh's alleged abuse against women in Sandeshkhali, expressed confidence that she would be able to cast her vote this time, something she was unable to do in the last two elections.
She attributed her optimism to the divine blessings of Lord Rama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Patra vehemently condemned TMC's violent actions during the polls, particularly in Sandeshkhali, where the party allegedly prevented people from exercising their democratic right to vote.
She recounted how TMC members attempted to seize land from the people of Sandeshkhali and failed to provide them with essential government schemes.
Patra asserted that the agitation in Sandeshkhali extended beyond the issue of voting rights and encompassed the dignity and respect of the local populace.
She accused TMC of attempting to derail the protest movement but was thwarted by the unity and determination of the people of Sandeshkhali.
Patra expressed solidarity with the people of Basirhat, stating that they stood united as one family and would collectively respond to the atrocities perpetrated by TMC cadres.
She recounted the physical assault on BJP women workers in Sandeshkhali by TMC members, highlighting a pattern of violence that has plagued the party since 2011.
Patra emphasized that the people of Basirhat had endured TMC's oppressive tactics for far too long and that they would no longer tolerate such behavior.
She expressed her belief that the entire public of Basirhat would stand up to TMC and hold them accountable for their actions.
