  • Two calls received by Delhi Police claiming assault on Rajya Sabha member
  • Maliwal left Civil Lines Police Station without filing a complaint

According to sources, the Delhi Police received two calls from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Monday alleging that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal was assaulted there. The sources stated that Maliwal, who had been out of the country and largely absent during Kejriwal's internment in the excise police case, was at the residence to meet the chief minister but was prevented from doing so by his personal assistant, Bibhav Kumar.

An officer with the operations cell of the Delhi Police confirmed receiving two calls regarding the alleged incident. The first call, made to the 100 emergency response number at around 9.40 am, did not mention the caller's name. However, in the second call at around 9.54 am, the caller identified herself as Swati Maliwal and claimed that Delhi Chief Minister's aide Bibhav Kumar was manhandling her.

Police responded by dispatching three vans to the alleged scene of the incident, but nothing was found. A second police officer revealed that Maliwal arrived at the Civil Lines Police Station but left soon after without lodging a complaint. The reasons for her departure remain unclear.

Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Delhi spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor sought clarification from the Chief Minister's office, who is currently on interim bail until June 1, to prevent rumors about the alleged incident. Kapoor cited unnamed sources and claimed that there was a clash between an aide of the chief minister and a senior woman leader at Kejriwal's residence around 9.15 am on Monday, adding that a police call was also made.

Kapoor expressed concern about the lack of safety for a former women's panel chief at the chief minister's house and called for a response from Kejriwal.
