Air India Express Cabin Crew Strike: Terminations and Ultimatums Issued
  • Air India Express terminates 25 cabin crew for strike action.
  • Airline issues ultimatum to remaining crew to join work by 4 p.m.
  • Mass leaves by cabin crew due to mismanagement cause flight cancellations.

Air India Express has taken strict action against its cabin crew members who participated in a strike by issuing termination letters to around 25 individuals. The airline has also given an ultimatum to the remaining crew members reporting sick to join back duty by 4 p.m. on May 9 or face termination.

The strike action by the cabin crew stemmed from alleged mismanagement at the airline, which led to the cancellation of over 90 flights. Over 200 cabin crew members started reporting sick from Tuesday night to protest the situation, causing immense inconvenience to passengers.

Air India Express, a subsidiary of Tata Group, operates with around 1,400 cabin crew members, including about 500 at the senior level. The mass leaves by a section of the crew have resulted in the cancellation of at least 60 flights on May 9 due to the non-availability of cabin crew.

This incident highlights the challenges faced by airlines in managing their workforce and the impact of industrial action on flight operations. Passengers are advised to check with the airline for any flight disruptions or cancellations before traveling.
