The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the final voter turnout for the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. According to the ECI, a total of 63.37% of eligible voters cast their ballots on May 25, 2023, across 58 constituencies.

The poll panel further revealed that the penultimate phase saw a male voter turnout of 61.95%, while 64.95% of women voters exercised their franchise. The turnout for the third gender stood at 18.67%.

Among the states, West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout of 82.71%, followed by Odisha (74.45%) and Jharkhand (65.39%). Uttar Pradesh, which saw polling in 14 constituencies, witnessed a turnout of 54.04%. Delhi and Haryana recorded a turnout of 58.69% and 64.80%, respectively.

The ECI also addressed concerns raised by some opposition parties regarding the possibility of fudging the turnout data. The poll panel asserted that the process of collecting and storing votes polled is rigorous, transparent, and participative.

The ECI emphasized that the entire exercise of releasing turnout data since the commencement of the Lok Sabha polls on April 19 has been accurate, consistent, and in accordance with election laws. The voter turnout data was continuously available on the Voter Turnout App from 9:30 AM on the polling day of each phase.

The seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held on June 1, 2023. The counting of votes will take place on June 4, 2023.

These elections are crucial as they will determine the composition of the 17th Lok Sabha and shape the political landscape of India for the next five years.

The Election Commission has urged all eligible voters to participate in the electoral process and exercise their democratic right by casting their votes.
