Poll strategist Prashant Kishor has stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) focus on winning 370 seats in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections is a significant shift from the previous goal of just crossing the halfway mark of 272 seats.
Kishor believes that if the BJP fails to achieve the target of 370 seats, it could disappoint the share market, which has high expectations for the party's performance.
He described the BJP's strategy of setting a higher target as "smart" and noted that it has helped them change the election discourse.
Kishor, who had worked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP during the 2014 polls, has predicted a victory for the ruling party in the ongoing elections.
However, he emphasized that even if the BJP gets less than 370 seats, they will still form the government as they have a comfortable lead over other parties.
The 543-seat Lok Sabha requires a party or coalition to cross the halfway mark of 272 seats to form a government at the center.
