  • Six passengers and six crew members reported injuries.
  • Incident follows fatal turbulence on Singapore Airlines flight days earlier.

A Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin experienced severe turbulence on Sunday, resulting in injuries to 12 people, including six passengers and six crew members.

The incident occurred while the aircraft was flying over Turkey, and the plane landed safely at Dublin Airport shortly before 1 p.m. local time.

Emergency services were on hand to assist the injured, and the Dublin Airport team is providing full assistance to passengers and airline staff on the ground.

The turbulence-related incident comes just days after a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok due to severe turbulence, which tragically killed a 73-year-old British man and left 20 others in intensive care.

Turbulence-related airline accidents are the most common type, according to a 2021 study by the US National Transportation Safety Board, and experts emphasize the importance of wearing seatbelts during flights to minimize the risk of injury in the event of unexpected turbulence.
